Indian Debating Union Debate Wide Shot

The Indian Debating Union is an independent global think tank and professional debating forum, designed for policy-makers, students, media and the wider public. The IDU was successfully launched in India in 2009, and commenced its international activity in 2012.

The organisation was conceived and started life as a not-for-profit organisation, and by 2013 evolved into a social enterprise to continue to meet the expectations of a rapidly growing international following, to be able to fund its own activity without charging end users or being reliant on charitable donations.

The IDU’s inspiring and highly relevant events have rapidly become ‘must-attend’ calendar features, and have been consistently popular amongst a broad range of diverse live audience attendees, public figures, global content viewers and media.

Covered by media, observers and viewers from the United States of America to the United Kingdom, and from Tunisia to Brazil, the IDU achieved significant international awareness after the success of its widely acclaimed promotional video, ‘Talk It Out – Debaters’ Rhapsody‘. The video has been universally lauded for its message, its entertainment value and its originality.

Thousands of live audience attendees and over one million viewers have already watched IDU content, and IDU debates, and the IDU continues, in collaboration to provide free training and mentoring in public speaking, leadership and socially-focussed problem solving to thousands of students every year.

The IDU’s mission is to continue to use the power of words and civilised debate to present unique new perspectives and solutions to some of the most pressing challenges and issues of our time.
